Volunteer Opportunities Available for the HFA
The following are volunteer opportunities with HFA. Please contact the appropriate person via e-mail or telephone; these names and numbers are listed on the back of this newsletter:
Philanthropy Chair and Committee
HFA has traditionally conducted philanthropic events in the community such as children's clothes and toys drives, donations to local shelters and partnerships with church and synagogue. We have recently started a scholarship partnership with Monroe Movement Space to benefit underprivileged children. Additionally, a number of local elderly homes have expressed interest in on-going visits from children. This chairperson and the committee, would organize and implement these and other programs and events and decide where HFA scholarships and funds would be donated. If you have a heart of gold (or silver), please support us in making these ideas a reality. For interest or information, contact Tracy.
Website Committee
The success of this exciting initiative is dependent upon the innovative ideas, research, and participation of our members! Volunteers would create ideas for content and/or gather information to be included on the new website, which is currently in the design phase. This is a short term project that does not require significant time involvement or even any technical expertise. So even if you only have a couple hours to spare, you too can contribute! For interest and information, contact Melissa.
Age Group Leaders Committee
Six volunteer positions are available. One person needed for each age group: Infants (0-6 months), Crawlers (7-12 months), Walkers (1-2 years), Runners (2-3 years), Preschoolers (3-4 years), and School-Age (5 and up). This friendly personality's name and phone number would appear in the newsletter as a resource for new parents, new residents to Hoboken, or other HFA members. You could provide information about playgroups, classes, etc. for your specific age group. If you love to chat about your kid and what's happening around town for them, this is a position for you. We recommend your child be at the beginning of whatever age group you are choosing. For interest or information, contact Michele.
Events Committee
Looking of volunteers to create, organize, and manage events for HFA moms, dads and/or children. These events can range from museum visits to playgroups to mom's nights out. Your involvement could mean 1, 2 or 3 events, an on-going event, or simply contributing an idea. If you like party planning, this is for you! For interest or information, contact Michelle.
Newsletter Production Committee
Do you want to volunteer, but don't want to exert your intellectual muscles too much? Then sign up to help assemble the newsletter each month. Once a month, come to Amy Faucher's to help staple, collate, label, stamp, and fold the newsletter. This promises to be a good time, complete with food, drinks, conversation, and toys for your child to play with while you "work". The time commitment required will be a maximum of 3 hours a month. Contact Amy if you're interested.
Writers Committee
Are you a writer, an aspiring writer, or just love to write? The writing committee is for you. Articles and features are needed for the newsletter, the website, public relations materials, and, sometimes, local newspapers. Contribute ideas for articles, write about an area of special interest, or respond to a request for a certain type of article. Involvement ranges from one article to a feature writer. For interest and information, contact Dawn.
Advertising Chair and Committee
Hoboken Family Alliance is of great interest to local businesses and services; an organization of parents is an organization of customers. We are constantly asked to include events and advertisement in our newsletter. This will increase as our website becomes another important vehicle for communication. This potential source of revenue could help HFA produce more events and make greater charitable contribution to the community. HFA needs a chairperson and perhaps several volunteers to help create an advertising policy/structure and interface with the advertising community. The chair would work closely with the leadership body to implement this. For interest or information, contact Dawn.
Finance Coordinator
This volunteer would partner with the Membership & Finance person to manage HFA's various funds including membership, charity and revues from advertising. This volunteer would work with all departments of HFA. It's a great opportunity to meet people in the leadership body and the Hoboken community and take on an important role. For interest or more information, contact Tracy.
