Hoboken Family Alliance Archives: January 2002

Exciting Times Ahead for the Hoboken Family Alliance

We, the "new volunteer team", have been working enthusiastically for two months creating the next chapter of this wonderful Hoboken family organization.

Our first major step was to change our "little group's" name. Hoboken Happenings had grown to become an influential constituent in the Hoboken political community as well as a valuable resource for Hoboken families. We needed a name to fit our organization. In late November, we sent an e-mail to all members announcing the new name, Hoboken Family Alliance (HFA). (See e-mail reprinted on page 2). Thank you for all the positive feedback we received about this change.

Additionally, we are designing a beautiful new website (see article below), implementing plans and policies to communicate more effectively information of importance to members, and creating an organizational structure that will support the new vision for HFA.

As some first re-organizational steps, we have added a Marketing person to the leadership body (see article below), and created many volunteer positions and committees to utilize members' varied backgrounds, areas of expertise, talents and just plain enthusiasm. Please consider contributing some of "you" to "us"--this is our community! We want HFA to be a valuable and fun experience for all its members.

2002 is going to be a fabulous year for Hoboken Family Alliance. We suggest you make some of your New Year's resolutions as follows: spend more time with your family, contribute your talents to HFA, participate in more HFA events and make new friends through HFA. Happy New Year!

New Name, New Website

A beautiful new website is being created to match our new name! Thanks to your ideas and the talents of our web designer, Steve Walkowiak, the website will have many exciting features such as a continually updated list of HFA events, bulletin boards for posting information like available baby-sitters and items for purchase or sell, a women's interest page created by Linda Pruce, HFA recommended baby products and parenting websites, links to Hoboken transportation information and much, much more. We expect the new site to be operationally at the beginning of February. The new address will be announced in February's newsletter. Can't wait! As a reminder, e-mail Melissa and offer your assistance with this huge endeavor, meliswalk@aol.com
