PARKS & PLAYGROUNDS
In addition to the inspiring Central Park in New York City and Liberty State Park in Jersey City, there are many beautiful parks in Hoboken. Whether you live uptown or downtown, east or west, you will always have a place to go to with your little ones. They will have fun, get some exercise and you can have a nice chat with other parents! So take your stroller, some snacks and enjoy being outside!!!

UPTOWN PARKS

The largest of all the Hoboken parks is Columbus Park. It is located between 9 and 11th, between Jefferson and Clinton streets. Established in 1910 and formerly known as Hoboken Park, this park of 2.6 acres features a basketball court, two playgrounds, two tennis courts and a sprinkler for those hot summer days. This park is dedicated to sports -- while watching a football game or training session, you can play tennis (or just watch!). Your kids will love all the space and the playgrounds. Take their bikes, rollerskates and your book, as you can relax on a bench if your little one surprises you by taking a nap in the stroller after a playful time in the park!

Closer to the waterfront, Elysian Park is located bet 10 and 11th on Hudson Street. The view overlooking the Hudson River and the Manhattan skyline is just incredible -- especially in the evening! Two playgrounds (with swings, slides, etc...) offers something for toddlers and school-age children. There is also a basketball court and a sprinkler to cool off in the warmer weather. Don't forget to bring your dog as well, as he'll love the dog run! Many of the new moms groups meet there for a chat in the mornings and Echo of Art sponsors toddler classes during the summer months. The park also has a World War I Memorial commemorating Hoboken veterans. There is truly something for everyone!

Right behind Stevens Institute of Technology is Castle Point Park. This new park under construction on the waterfront will include a tree lined walkway and a fishing pier. In the meantime, catch a soccer game and enjoy the beautiful view of Manhattan!

DOWNTOWN PARKS.

Located on Park Avenue between 4 and 5th Streets, Church Square Park offers 2 _ basketball courts, a playground, sprinklers for the summer months and a charming gazebo. Residents enjoy a variety of music during the summer Wednesday evening gazebo concerts sponsored by the Sixth Ward Block Association. A statue of Marconi and the Firemen's Memorial honor the park greens. A good tip: if you want sun from September to November visit Church Square Park in the morning... and Elysian Park in the afternoon!

Stevens Park is located on Hudson Street between 4 and 5th Streets. This park offers a playground, a play area for toddlers, and sprinklers for the summer months. If your little one is too small to go on the swing on his own, there is a swing on which both of you can swing ... you can enjoy the fun as well! You can also watch a baseball game at the Hoboken Little League Field. The park salutes all Civil War Veterans with a Civil War Memorial and provides an inspiring view of the Hudson River and Manhattan.

Sinatra Park is a great place to listen to music while having a refreshing drink during the summertime -- not to mention the view! Located at 5th Street and Sinatra Drive, Sinatra Park is Hoboken's newest park and was built using New Jersey Green Acres funding. The park includes a tree-lined lawn, a soccer field, a running track, a waterfront walkway, amphitheater, a public gazebo, kayak launch, a concession stand and loads of wide-open space overlooking the Hudson River.

And then there is the great waterfront walk from Sinatra Park to the Lackawanna Plaza. Need some exercise? Take your baby and the stroller and go!!

You can also head to Pier A Park for fun and a beautiful picnic site! It offers a lot of space where the kids can run, enjoy a great "shower" from the sprinklers in the summer months, ride their bikes or use their rollerskates!

The Erie Lackawanna Pedestrian Plaza is located at the foot of Hudson Place on 1st Street. The plaza has park benches and a decorative fountain. Many community events and activities are hosted at the plaza, which provides a splendid view of the Manhattan skyline.
